      Course Overview
      This 6-hour micro-credential course introduces participants to the basic factors that affect forest site quality and tree growth. Through three digital badges, participants will learn how to understand site conditions, assess site productivity, and select suitable tree species.
      Participants will explore how soil, water, climate, topography, and biological factors influence tree growth. They will also learn how to use simple indicators such as tree height, age, and Site Index to understand differences in site productivity.
      The course also introduces site–species matching, helping participants choose tree species that are suitable for different site conditions. Upon completion, participants will be able to assess basic site conditions, understand tree growth and productivity, and select suitable species to support healthy trees and sustainable forest management.

      This course is a self-paced learning programme consisting of three modules covering nine topics. Each topic includes learning materials, interactive activities, and assessments (quizzes) that must be completed.
      •
      The instructor may monitor your progress and activities through the platform to ensure that you have completed the course.
      •
      Completing and passing all assessments is mandatory. The passing mark for all assessments is 6.5 out of 10 (or 65%), and you are only allowed three attempts for each assessment.
      •
      Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a Certificate of Competency, indicating that you have passed all course assessments.

This course provides fundamental knowledge of forest site quality, tree growth, and site suitability. Throughout this module, you will explore the key factors that influence forest site quality, how site productivity and tree growth can be assessed, and how suitable tree species can be selected for different site conditions.

      You will also learn how soil, water, climate, topography, and biological factors influence tree growth and forest productivity. The module introduces practical approaches such as Site Index and site–species matching to help you understand site conditions and make informed decisions when selecting tree species.
