    • Yield Curve
      Module 2
      Synopsis: Yield Curve

This module introduces participants to the concepts of forest growth and yield over time. Participants will explore key growth indicators, including Current Annual Increment (CAI), Periodic Annual Increment (PAI), and Mean Annual Increment (MAI), and understand how each measure describes forest growth over different time periods.

The module also introduces yield curves and the relationship between CAI and MAI in understanding changes in stand productivity. By the end of the module, participants will be able to calculate and interpret basic growth and yield indicators to understand forest productivity over time.

    • 🎯 LEARNING OUTCOMES (LO)
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
      LO1
Explain how stand growth changes over time and why increment is used to measure productivity.
      C2 β€’ UNDERSTAND
      LO2
Calculate and compare CAI and PAI to describe stand growth over different time periods.
      C3 β€’ APPLY
      LO3
Interpret CAI, PAI, and MAI curves to identify changes in stand productivity and the point of maximum average increment.
      C3 β€’ APPLY
πŸ“ˆ Course outcome: Understand forest increment dynamics, calculate CAI and PAI indicators, and analyze increment curves to evaluate productivity trends over time.

    • CONGRATULATIONS!
You have successfully completed Module 2 – Yield Curve. Hopefully, you now understand CAI, PAI, and MAI and can use growth information to understand changes in forest stand productivity over time.
Next, you will use inventory and growth information to support decisions on cutting limits and optimum yield in Module 3 – The Optimum Yield.
      Good luck!
