Putra Obesity Educational Kit (Putra-OBE kit): Core Modules

This is an online obesity teaching program created with a strategic collaboration of the multidisciplinary team of the Metabolic and Obesity Clinic in Hospital Sultan Aziz Shah UPM.

This module is named the Putra Obesity Educational Kit (Putra-OBE Kit). The Putra-OBE Kit aims to provide knowledge and skills in obesity management to students, clinicians and allied healthcare professionals. This Putra-OBE Kit has comprehensive core modules and customised specialised modules based on the clinical specialities of obesity management.

The Core Modules of the Putra-OBE Kit will focus on 6 basic topics which cover the overview of each component in obesity management, including diet, lifestyle intervention, rehabilitation, pharmacotherapy, psychology and bariatric surgery. These core modules aim to provide fundamental knowledge on obesity as a chronic disease, the aetiology and complications of obesity, and the treatment modalities in obesity management.

At the end of the modules, it is hoped that learners would be able to: 

1. Explain the aetiology of obesity as a chronic disease,  its associated complications, and the impact on overall health.
2. Analyze the factors contributing to obesity, including genetic, environmental, behavioral, and psychosocial influences.
3. Discuss the effects of weight management strategies using the multidisciplinary approaches
